For nearly two decades, Bharat Lall has served as the president and CEO of Pinnacle Hotels USA, where he supervises the operations of nine hotel properties in Southern California and Texas. Apart from his work, Bharat Lall is a committed philanthropist who supports many organizations in the San Diego area, including Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID).
Last July, AVID praised the efforts of five San Diego area teachers, recognizing them with the AVID Teacher Advocacy Award. This distinction is given to teachers who stand out for their commitment to preparing students for college. A teacher is nominated by his or her peers, who submit an essay outlining the teacher’s specific accomplishments in helping students get ready for college.
Each Advocacy Award recipient receives $10,000 to help with college-readiness efforts in the classroom. The five winners were honored at the AVID Summer Institute in Sacramento on July 11, 2017.
Bharat Lall directs the California-based Pinnacle Hotels USA in investing in underperforming hotels in three states. Beyond his responsibilities as president and CEO of Pinnacle Hotels USA, Bharat Lall supports Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID). The nonprofit organization will host the 2017 AVID National Conference in December.
The AVID National Conference brings together educational leaders from across the country to discover the latest innovations and best practices for closing the opportunity gap among students. Discussions will focus on expanding access to rigorous curriculums and promoting career readiness for all students. Designed for AVID members, school faculty, and district personnel, the conference also offers a variety of networking events where educational thought leaders can share their experiences.
Programming will consist of an assortment of concurrent sessions targeting the areas of leadership, culture, systems, and institutions. Topics explored range from digital and technological innovations to schoolwide strategies that support students and increase rigor. In addition, the conference will cover the success of AVID systems such as advanced programs and the AVID College Readiness System (ACRS).
To increase affordability, AVID has introduced a number of special incentives to the 2017 National Conference. Incentives include 50 percent off registration for demo school participants and $100 off registration for teams of three or more from the same school. District superintendents and college and university presidents will receive free registration.
The 2017 AVID National Conference will take place on December 7 through December 9 at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek in Orlando, Florida.
